Want to buy a pet but are not sure which animal to choose?

Want advice on pet care in your own home with your own pets?

ResponsiPet can help you with our ‘Pet choice‘ and ‘Home advice‘ consultations.

1 ‘Pet Choice’:

We can come to your home and discuss with you the best pet to suit your circumstances.

What happens during a consultation?

We will discuss with you details such as:

  • Family size
  • Age of children
  • Space available in your home
  • Personal animal preferences
  • Your available budget
  • Time you have available to care for the pet

What happens next?

We will discuss a choice of suitable pets then discuss further what is required with regards to the care of those pets. We will tell you:

  • What equipment is needed before buying it
  • How much it will cost to keep that animal
  • Worming/flea advice
  • Nutrition advice
  • Vaccination advice
  • Where to buy that pet and its food/equipment

How long will the consultation last?

A consultation will last an average of 1 hour, maybe more, maybe less depending on you as an individual. Choosing a pet needs a lot of thought to get it right and you may have a lot of questions. Our job is to help you make a decision that you are comfortable with. We charge per visit, NOT per hour so no need to worry.

Then what?

If you decide that you want to go ahead and get that pet we have discussed with you then great. If not and you decide to wait, thats fine too.

For an extra fee we can go and collect your pet for you (you are responsible for paying for the animal and all equipment required. We will quote you how much it will cost and you are expected to pay us that money upfront so we can go and collect everything you need).

Unfortunatley we can only collect pets and contents from pet stores. If you require a pet from a rescue centre or charity such as a dog or cat, then you may be liable to undergo checks by themselves to ensure you will be a suitable owner.

If you like, we can come back and visit your home once you have bought the animal to see how it is settling in and to answer any questions you may have. We can even show you how to perform a health check on your new animal (once it is settled in) so you know what to look for if it becomes unwell.

2 ‘Home Pet Advice’:

We can come to your home and discuss with you pet care advice for your pet/s.

What happens during a consultation?

We can give advice on:

  • Health Checks
  • Correct diet and nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Worming
  • Flea treatment
  • Environmental Enrichment
  • Housing
  • Coping with animals.
  • Budgeting
  • Registering with a vet
  • Castration and Neutering advice
  • Summer and Winter care
  • Plus more…

We can also help with finding you a local dog groomer, kennel, cattery, pet sitter, pet store etc so you have a list of your local pet service contact numbers. We can even register your animal with any of these services to make things easier for you.

What happens next?

After giving you advice we will leave you with some booklets and other information so you can refer back to certain bits of information. If required, we will write a handbook specifically for you containing information that relates to your individual pet. This can be anything from pet information as discussed, or a calendar with reminder dates for worming, fleas, grooming  and vet appointments.

N:B: There will be a surcharge of £10 for this.

How long will the consultation last?

This can last anything from 45 minutes to two hours depending on the pet and advice required. We will discuss your pet and situation on the phone whilst booking a consultation which will give us a rough idea how long it may take. We charge per visit, NOT per hour so no need to worry.

Then what?

We will call you a short while after our visit to see how you are getting on and if there is anything else we can do for you.
