ResponsiPet provides an interactive basic responsible pet ownership workshop for children aged 7 to 11 years. The workshop lasts for 1 ½ hours but can be reduced or extended if required. It lightly covers the basics in pet care including the following topics:

•    Basic animal needs.
•    Environmental enrichment with a craft activity. (Craft activity not available in the one hour session).
•    Animal cruelty and the law.
•    A health check performed on a cat, dog or guinea pig. If for any reason you cannot have an animal on the premises, an alternative can be provided.
•    Vets and vaccinations.
•    Animal organisations.
•    Pet costing.

Throughout the session, children will be encouraged to participate by hands on activities, crafts and group work.

New after school workshops now available:

•    Environmental enrichment: Keeping my pet happy: This is a one hour session that demonstrates to children how they can keep their pet happy by providing the correct stimulation and therefore keep it happy and healthy. The children will be involved in discussions about how different animals differ in their stimili needs both in captivity and in the wild. They will then make their own toy or activity to take home with them for their pet.

Cost £3.50 per child.

•    My pet’s diet and health care; (cats, dogs, small mammals). This one and a half hour session touches on the importance of correct nutrition  for your childs pet. They will learn what foods these animals need and in what quantity. They will be shown how to do a health check to see if their pet is in good health and have a light discussion about vets and small mammal diseases. This workshop is designed with children in mind and therefore encourages them to be actively involved during the session.

Cost £4.50 per child

•    Basic responsible pet ownership: All pets: As mentioned above for the school visits but also as an out of school workshop. This briefly covers most aspects of pet care including pet needs and health checks. One and a half hours.

Your child can do one workshop or all of them for just £10.

These workshops are new and can only hold ten children aged 7-11 at any one time. Each child will not only come away with a knowledge and understanding in pet care but also a free activity pack and certificate saying they have done the course.
